Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA std's certification may be required within 30 days of hire.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within 24 months of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Quality Manager in Marion, Virginia. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Leads the quality organization from both a tactical and strategic approach
- Performs or confirms production and quality control audits
- Assures compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards such as AS9100 regulations
- May conduct vendor evaluation audits to determine qualifications
- May also conduct training on quality assurance systems
- Delegates assignments to others for developing solutions to a variety of complex and difficult problems
- Develops, implements and maintains technical quality assurance and control systems and activities
- Defines and specifies the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision, accuracy and reliability of company products
- Participates in the reviewing of engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations
- Assists product support areas in gathering and analyzing data
- Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
- Regular contact with internal customers (DCMA, on-site customer reps) and external customers
- Regular interaction with other departments such as engineering, operations and contracts
- Regular contact with suppliers and subcontractors
- Interacts with all levels of management
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards
- Demonstrated understanding of contractual quality requirements and flow down
- Program contractual requirements and flow down to suppliers/sub-contractors
- Configuration management and change management procedures
- Demonstrated engineering practices to enhance quality
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational and business policies and procedures, processes and Government regulations
- Skill in using PC applications (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Skill in use of basic inspection/measurement tools
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of documentation, processing and production paperwork
- Skill in using specific computer production tools
- Interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates exemplary skills, knowledge and functions at a level beyond the requirements of the position
- Fully capable of managing work, setting objectives and meeting commitments, and is an excellent team player
- Typically has considerable experience in this area of expertise
Target salary range: USD $166,210.40/Yr. - USD $179,844.80/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
