Progeny Systems is a business area within General Dynamics Mission Systems. Progeny Systems' Submarine Test & Evaluation Team supports rigorous Dockside and At-Sea testing in support of Integrated Combat System (ICS) certification to ensure maximum operational readiness of the U.S. Navy's submarine fleet.


Submarine Test Services

The Test and Evaluation Services program provides the Test and Evaluation community an exceptional team, which consists of more than 250 years of operational submarine experience, with the technical knowledge and experience to develop real-time data collection tools, test plans and procedures, provide test coordination across multiple platform stakeholders, and execute coordinated tests in support of U.S. Navy Acquisition and In-Service programs.

Current Efforts

Tactical Dockside and At-Sea Testing

Weapon System Accuracy Trials (WSAT), which includes a dockside period with System Health Checks, as well as alignment and assessment of the Integrated Combat Systems (ICS) Certification to support at-sea Sensor Accuracy Testing (SAT), followed by at-sea test that includes Exercise Weapon (EXWEP) Firings concurrent with Tactical Weapons Certification (TWC) efforts.

Developmental Test and Operational Test

Planning and execution of Developmental Test and Operational Test to evaluate the platform capability to meet mission area requirements derived from Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs) and to enable the DoD to acquire systems that support the warfighter in accomplishing their mission.

Integrated Combat System Assessment

The Integrated Combat System Certification and Assessment Program (ICS CAP) provides a combat system material certification to the Type Commander (TYCOM) for in-service platforms conducted in a tactical environment during Training or Fleet events.

Weapon Systems Transition

Test and Evaluation efforts for future payloads on both Virginia and Columbia-class submarines to support the successful transition of new weapon systems into the operational Fleet.

Program Office Services

Program Office representative services in the operational squadron provides a waterfront liaison between the program office, submarine test platforms, and squadron leadership that promotes open lines of communication resulting in successful planning and execution of required test events in support of platform ICS certification.
