Submarine Fire Control Systems
Strategic Weapon Systems For U.S. & U.K. Submarines
General Dynamics Mission Systems is the prime integrator for the Trident II Fire Control System, which includes the most reliable fire control systems in the U.S. Navy’s inventory – those of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs). General Dynamics is also developing, producing and installing Fire Control Systems for the new Columbia-class submarines.
The Trident II Fire Control System
General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for the development, production, installation and sustainment support of the Ohio-class and Columbia-class’ Trident II Fire Control Systems.
The Trident II is a Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) with a range of 4,000 miles. Our fire control system delivers the information needed to control the launch sequence of ballistic missiles. General Dynamics has designed, produced, installed, and sustained every version of the Fire Control System and guidance systems for Polaris, Poseidon, Trident I and Trident II missiles for more than 65 years.
General Dynamics will also deliver fire control systems for the U.K’s new Dreadnought-class of ballistic missile submarines. In addition, General Dynamics will the deliver fire control systems for the first U.S. Columbia-class training facility, installation support and pre-deployment planning for both U.S. and U.K. sites.
