General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada will showcase our continued expansion of the Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) 6.0 family of vehicles, highlighting our ability to take world leading technologies and integrate them on our LAV platform in response to anticipated and stated capabilities requirements. For the first time, General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada is also showing the Interactive Media Centre at the CANSEC booth.
- On display will be the LAV 6.0 Combat Support Vehicle (CSV) Maintenance and Recovery Vehicle (MRV), and a 1:10 scale model representative of a LAV 6.0 Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) solution.
- The LAV 6.0 MRV uses the fielded LAV 6.0 baseline incorporating variant role-specific solutions that offer highly protected mobile recovery, repair and maintenance capabilities. It provides integral recovery and maintenance capabilities with the necessary tools and spare equipment. The LAV 6.0 MRV has the same high level of protection and exceptional mobility capability as the baseline configuration, plus the added capabilities to recover a deeply mired vehicle, and perform maintenance across a full spectrum of operations.
- The LAV 6.0 GBAD sensors and specialized weapons systems provide tactical air defence protection to friendly forces and vital installations during operations.
- The Interactive Media Centre (IMC) is a General Dynamics designed and manufactured advanced training solution for soldiers. The IMC incorporates the latest training methodologies designed to educate and engage soldiers by tailoring courses that facilitate rapid knowledge transfer and ease of learning.
- Next Generation Artillery – The Next Generation 155mm Artillery Ammunition includes three projectiles, the XM1113 High Explosive Rocket Assist, the XM1122E1 High Explosive and the XM1128 High Explosive Base Bleed. These projectiles can be fired off both the M777A2 Lightweight Towed 155mm Howitzer and the M109A7 Paladin Self-Propelled Howitzer platforms. The projectiles are loaded with insensitive high explosives and include enhanced effects on target.
- 81mm and 120 Roll Controlled Guided Mortar (RCGM) – The 81mm and 120mm Roll Controlled Guided Mortars are precision guided mortars with multi-mode fuze and portable GPS setters. Target coordinates are programed into the RCGM using the GPS setter. The fuze is set manually to proximity, point detonate, or delay modes. Once the mortar is launched the on-board GPS acquires satellites and determines the mortar’s position and vertical reference (up). Based on continuous GPS updates, the auto-pilot calculates corrections and sends commands to the canards to continuously maneuver the mortar toward the target. Upon impact the mortar detonates in the desired mode.
- SecuriBlank® Extra Loud is the most recent addition to the Simunition training solution suite. The SecuriBlank® Extra-Loud will eliminate the use of live ammunition or starter pistol to simulate the approaching threat from a distance or inside a structure or building. This cartridge works with weapon conversion kit, increasing safety and ensuring proper weapon functioning.
The company’s outdoor exhibit (#3201) will feature the Simunition® 5.56mm FX® Generation 2 cartridge, along with other non‐lethal products and capabilities. These products offer low cost, entirely mobile ways to train anywhere, in any environment, without live fire restrictions. Hands-on demonstrations will be available for visitors to experience the realistic non-lethal training system.
General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada will feature underwater acoustic solutions and technologies, as well as airborne mission management capabilities developed for the Aurora maritime patrol aircraft and the Cyclone maritime helicopter program.
Information on the future of Vehicle Electronic Architecture, including Tactical Networking and Routing, Power and Video Distribution, and Mission Computing and Displays will be available.
- General Dynamics Mission Systems’ Bluefin Robotics® will showcase the Bluefin™-9 Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV), which boasts the most powerful sensor package in a small-class, two-man portable UUV. With its unmatched navigation and survey capabilities, the Bluefin-9 provides high-quality data that allows the professional to better understand the ocean floor during expeditionary operations. Its innovative design permits users to collect data and begin a new mission in less than 30 minutes, effectively enabling the Bluefin-9 to do the work of two UUVs in a single UUV.
- The General Dynamics Mission Systems’ Digital Modular Radio (DMR), AN/USC-61(C) provides multiple communication waveforms and multi-level information security for secure tactical and data transmissions aboard U.S. Navy ships and submarines. The latest DMR enhancement increases transmission rates while reducing static and other audio noise for crisp, clear voice communications. The four-channel DMR is the first software defined radio to become a communications standard for the U.S. Navy.
- The CM-300/350 V2 software defined ground-to-air radios provide reliable, clear, ground-to-air communications for air traffic control centers, commercial airports, military air stations and range installations. As part of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NEXCOM 2 modernization program contract, the CM-300/350 V2 family of radios is certified to operate across the U.S. National Air Space (NAS) to replace outdated, unsupportable legacy radios, some of which are almost 50 years old. As digital radios, they can be software updated and managed remotely, thus delivering long-term cost savings, system interoperability and consistent, reliable, long-term performance. With over 8,000 radios delivered and 3,000 fielded, the FAA and the U.S. military have begun to standardize these radio systems and have selected them as their preferred choice to replace outdated legacy radios at major U.S. military installations.
Cyber Defense Products will showcase the following capabilities designed to protect data as it traverses globally across networks and domains.
- The SignalEye solution developed by General Dynamics Mission Systems uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide warfighters and security personnel with a timely, accurate view of the threat in the RF spectrum and enables analysts to detect trends in the adversary’s behavior. SignalEye doesn’t require specialized hardware acceleration. In a tactical context, this electronic warfare software deploys on a commodity hardware as an add-on to a RF front end system solution. In a classified or unclassified Amazon cloud context, it scales to process petabytes of data.
- TACLANE®-Nano, the smallest, lightest HAIPE® for classified mobile applications, provides high-speed interoperability with Five Eye and coalition partner secure networks. TACLANE-Nano is designed with the latest in crypto modernization technology to provide protection for information classified TS/SCI and below, and was submitted to NSA for certification 4Q2018. The TACLANE-Nano is available for purchase via General Dynamics Mission Systems Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. Our trade-in program can help Canadian defence government organizations replace legacy cryptographic equipment easily to modernize their enterprise infrastructure and functionality.
- Also on display will be the Sectéra vIPer Universal Secure Phone, the only Voice over IP (VoIP) phone certified to protect information classified Top Secret/SCI and below over commercial wired networks. As the use of VoIP technology grows, vIPer is the smart choice as it allows easy switching between making end-to-end secure and non-secure calls on Voice over IP (VoIP) and analog networks, eliminating the need for multiple desktop phones.
- The TACDS® portfolio of cross domain solutions brings safe and secure information sharing to the tactical edge. TACDS provides a low-cost, small Size, Weight and Power (SWaP), tamper-resistant cross domain solution that is ideal for almost any vehicle, mobile shelter, ground sensor system, aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) or soldier warn application.
