CHANTILLY, Va. – General Dynamics Mission Systems has been awarded a $19 million contract modification by the U.S. Air Force to complete qualification and pre-production readiness activities for the Next Generation Survival Radio (NGSR). This contract underscores the General Dynamics commitment to delivering mission-critical communications to the warfighter.
The contract modification encompasses U.S. Department of War (DOW) certifications and the delivery of approximately 300 pre-production units to support operational training and evaluation. General Dynamics will draw on its decades of expertise in National Security Agency (NSA)-certified products and combat survival communications to support the operational readiness of the U.S. Air Force and the broader DOW.
The NGSR builds on the foundation of the company's widely fielded HOOK2 (PRC-112G) and HOOK3 survival radios, which remain in active service with the U.S. military and allied nations around the world. The next-generation system builds on that proven combat search and rescue (CSAR) capability to meet the demands of tomorrow's operating environment.
"When it matters most, the survival radio is what brings our pilots and aircrew home," said Rachel Oberc, vice president of Network and Communication Systems. "Our team has supported that mission for decades and we are proud to carry that legacy forward with the Next Generation Survival Radio. This contract puts production-ready hardware in the hands of operators so we can deliver a system they can trust with their lives. NGSR reflects a sustained partnership between the United States Air Force and General Dynamics, combining years of collaborative prototyping and development with significant investment by both parties to deliver a next-generation capability to the warfighter."
The work will be conducted at the General Dynamics Mission Systems Scottsdale, Arizona, facility, beginning immediately and continuing through 2027. This contract reinforces the company’s role as the nation's trusted provider of combat survival communications.
General Dynamics Mission Systems was awarded an Other Transaction Authority (OTA) Project Agreement by SOSSEC, Inc. to support the Air Force’s Electronic Systems Directorate under the AFLCMC Consortium Initiative (ACI) No FA8604-19-9-4050, between the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFMC/AFLCMC) and SOSSEC, Inc.
