Today, July 25, is National Intern Appreciation Day, and we are celebrating the more than 250 talented interns across the company joining us this summer from more than 85 colleges and universities.
Meet Ashley, Morgan, Mashkur, and Michelle. We asked them what they have enjoyed about their internships at General Dynamics Mission Systems, and here are their responses.
Ashley Peña Valadez is an Engineering intern working out of the Pittsfield, Mass., office. She’s an aerospace engineering major at Wichita State University and is scheduled to graduate in 2026.
“My experience has been very positive. Everyone is so dedicated to the mission here at General Dynamics Mission Systems, and that passion has transferred to me as well.”
Morgan Tyler is a mechanical engineering intern working out of the McLeansville, N.C., office this summer. Morgan is an environmental engineering major at the University of South Florida and will graduate in 2025. She’s also hoping to continue her time at General Dynamics Mission Systems by participating in the three-year Engineering Leadership Program (ELP)!

Mashkur Ziblim is a 2024 Engineering intern working for the Maritime & Strategic Systems Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Communications team in Pittsfield, Mass. Mashkur is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and will be graduating in 2025.

“I can't thank General Dynamics and the team enough for making my internship experience here so enriching. I am understanding what employees mean when they say, 'It's the people that make the company.' I've never worked with such a supportive, encouraging and intelligent team of people that truly care about my personal and professional growth.
General Dynamics interns are given an opportunity of a lifetime to make a real impact in solving some of the toughest defense and cyber security problems for our nation. Interns work on engineering and advancing technology across land, air, sea, space, and cyber.
