MainTAIN from General Dynamics Mission Systems is a commercial off-the-shelf maintenance asset management system on all Independence-variant LCSs, one Freedom-variant LCS and all Zumwalt-class Destroyers.

MainTAIN runs on the DoD cloud and is Fed Ramp certified. With this certification, MainTAIN can be updated with continuous technical advancements without interruption of service and can be accessed remotely anywhere in the world. This ensures crews always have the most recent version with the most accurate data, enabling efficient and effective sustainment practices throughout the ship’s expected service life (ESL).

Maintenance Aboard USS Charleston LCS 18MainTAIN is a software that allows Commanding Officers and crews to track and monitor contractor/maintenance execution team (MET) based maintenance activities in one user-friendly database. It is the only Enterprise Asset Management for Navy Maintenance (EAM-4-3M) program that offers a condition-based maintenance environment, increasing a crew’s ability to meet operational commitments by reducing unplanned downtime for sustainment related activities.

When it comes to being mission ready, efficient maintenance is critical to ensuring our nation’s fleet is in a state of constant mission readiness, in both Combat Systems and Hull, Mechanical and Electrical systems (HM&E).

Proven Effective on the USS Charleston (LCS 18)

In June 2023, the USS CHARLESTON (LCS 18), which uses MainTAIN for their contractor-based and MET-based maintenance, returned to their homeport in San Diego after being deployed continuously for 26 months. The ship with its blue/gold crews met all operational commitments with less downtime than originally planned due to ahead of schedule maintenance achievements.

As reported by the U.S. Navy Institute, “Officials credit maintenance support with sustaining USS CHARLESTON (LCS 18) throughout its two-plus years of operations.”
