SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The U.S. Army recently awarded delivery orders valued at $295.8 million to a General Dynamics-Lockheed Martin team to procure Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) Increment 2 systems for five additional brigade combat teams (BCTs). The Army has now ordered Increment 2 systems for a total of eight BCTs under a three-year contract that was awarded in March 2010. The contract has a total potential value of $2.8 billion if all options are exercised.

WIN-T Increment 2 provides on-the-move connectivity for improved battlefield awareness and command and expands the reach of tactical broadband communications to soldiers in lower force echelons. The first WIN-T Increment 2 fielding is scheduled to take place in November 2011.

The WIN-T program primarily consists of three increments. Increment 1 has been deployed to more than half of the U.S. Army worldwide, providing the Army’s enterprise network for deployed forces. Increment 2 enables initial mobile networking for divisions, brigade combat teams, battalions and companies. Increment 3 provides increased network reliability and capacity and smaller, more-tightly integrated communications and networking gear.
