Shipboard Electronic Integration
Our technology serves as the backbone for the entire electronic systems on board the U.S. Navy's Independence-Variant Littoral Combat Ship and the Expeditionary Fast Transport. Each maneuver performed by these next-generation ships, from steering through shallow waters to firing the guns, is controlled by our integrated network.
Submarine Combat Systems
As a submarine crew navigates through the depths of the ocean, they cannot see what is going on around them, creating the need for an accurate picture of their undersea environment and any potential threats. Our Tactical Control Systems enable sailors to visualize their surroundings by integrating sensor data from sonar, radar, navigation, periscopes, and communication systems and relaying the information as an interactive visual to the sailor. When a submarine crew identifies a threat, our combat systems which control and launch the submarine’s weapons enable them to respond with accuracy every time.
Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program
Ship defense remains a top priority of the U.S. Navy due to the proliferation of advanced anti-ship missiles. Effective ship defense depends on shipboard Electronic Warfare systems for early detection, location and classification of electronic emitters. As the systems integrator for Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 1, our technology enables rapid integration of emerging technologies in anti-ship missile defense and electronic warfare situational awareness.
Strategic Weapon Deterrence
We have designed, produced, installed and sustained every version of the Weapon Control System (Fire Control) for Polaris, Poseidon, Trident I and Trident II Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM). Additionally, we have been part of the team developing, testing, producing, deploying and sustaining the guidance systems for each of these missions.
Common Network Interface
The Common Network Interface (CNI) system improves situational awareness for the Navy's Expeditionary Strike Group Commanders by fusing stove-piped battle management systems into a single integrated tactical picture. Common Network Interface's tactical picture allows officers to view and manipulate tactical data and access a variety of tools and software applications from one source as opposed to multiple displays.
The new waveform is software that adds the MUOS capability to software-defined DMR radios, and improves secure voice, video and data communications across the MUOS satellite communications (SATCOM) network.
General Dynamics Mission Systems Demonstrates Cross-domain Command, Control and Communication Technology at ANTX 2018
At ANTX 2018, a General Dynamics Mission Systems-led team demonstrated cross-domain, multi-level command, control and communication (C3) among unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV), submarines and land-based mission operations centers.
General Dynamics Team Successfully Completes Critical Test Phase for U.S. Navy Knifefish Unmanned Undersea Vehicle
The General Dynamics Mission Systems team successfully completed all stages of formal Sea Acceptance Testing (SAT) of Knifefish, the U.S. Navy's Surface Mine Countermeasure (MCM) Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (UUV) system. The tests were conducted off the coast of Boston using Navy mine test targets and included a variety of undersea, MCM operational scenarios in multiple simulated mine fields.
