Pittsfield, Mass. – General Dynamics Mission Systems announced today that it was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Navy worth $92.9 million to design, test and deliver the Hammerhead Encapsulated Effector system and produce prototype articles and other related equipment. Hammerhead is a moored anti-submarine mine delivering new capabilities and effects for the U.S. Navy.
This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $275,603,495. Work will be performed in Taunton, Braintree, Pittsfield, and Quincy, Massachusetts, Andover, Maryland; Fairfax, Virginia; Greensboro, North Carolina; Groton, Connecticut; Lincoln, Nebraska; and Bloomington, Minnesota; and is expected to be completed by September 2023. If all options are exercised, work will continue through September 2026.
General Dynamics Mission Systems leads a team comprised of General Dynamics’ Applied Physical Sciences and General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems. Raytheon Technologies Corp., Physical Sciences Inc., and Ultra serve in key subcontractor roles.
