Not so small any longer: Grand opening of new Colorado Springs facility marks next chapter in development of veteran-owned small business.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Colorado Congressman Doug Lamborn and Reggie Ash, chief defense development officer for the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, joined Chris Marzilli, General Dynamics executive vice president of Information Technology and Mission Systems, to celebrate the grand opening of GPS Source’s new Colorado Springs engineering and manufacturing facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Robert Horton, General Dynamics vice president and director for position, navigation and timing, hosted more than 120 Colorado Springs elected officials, city representatives, employees, friends, and family who came to commemorate this event.

Congressman Lamborn stressed the importance that GPS Source plays in the defense of our Nation in light of emerging and ongoing threats.

“GPS Source enables a critical capability to our warfighters who are manning the frontline on the frontier of freedom,” said Congressman Lamborn. “It cannot be overstated how important their products are to the defense of our way of life.”

As the master of ceremonies, Horton spoke of the humble beginnings of GPS Source as two veterans operating a small RF component manufacturing business in 2000 that grew into an innovative provider of precision location and timing solutions that caught the attention of General Dynamics Mission Systems in 2017. The acquisition of GPS Source by General Dynamics represented an alignment of values and devotion to developing critical technology that serves the warfighter and nation. GPS Source increases General Dynamics’ breadth of defense and commercial offering in ground and cyber systems to include assured positioning, navigation, and timing (APNT) products and systems.

GPS Source previously operated multiple facilities across Pueblo and Colorado Springs developing and manufacturing systems and components for GPS signal transmission and validation. The new 18,500 square-foot facility consolidates engineering, research and development, manufacturing, shipping and receiving, administration, management, program management, finance, sales, and marketing into a single location with room for future growth. Having nearly doubled headcount in the last three years, and expecting continued growth in the future, this new space hosts 85 employees and will play an integral role in attracting new employees to support technology development and the increasing demand for the technology GPS Source provides.

“It is our goal that our new home be a place of creativity, innovation, contribution and reward for the GPS Source team, and that it will facilitate our continued pursuit of the capabilities and safety of the brave young men and women who sacrifice so much to preserve our freedoms and stand against terror around the world,” Horton said during the ceremony.
