General Dynamics Mission Systems is excited to introduce FirstRunner™, a new Compact Rapid Deployable (CRD™) 4G LTE communications system for the customer owned and maintained (COAM) market that is easily deployable by a single person.

General Dynamics FirstRunner Compact Rapid Deployable 4G LTE Communications System

FirstRunner™ is rapidly deployable across the full spectrum of public safety agencies and incidents. Easily transportable on any standard vehicle trailer hitch, the system features a 15-minute setup time, lower cost of ownership as compared to larger, less mobile solutions and is designed to easily accept upgrades as technology continues to evolve.

The FirstRunner solution is anticipated to enter testing with AT&T later this year for compatibility with FirstNet – the nationwide public safety LTE communications platform dedicated to America’s first responders.

“I am excited to see the innovation from General Dynamics on the FirstRunner solution to meet the growing demand of the COAM market for an affordable and easily deployable 4G LTE communications system with satellite backhaul for state and local public safety agencies,” said TJ Kennedy, co-founder and principal at the Public Safety Network, a consulting firm, and former president of the First Responder Network Authority. “Putting this lightweight capability in the hands of our first responders will add network connectivity to rural and remote locations during training exercises and incident response, assist with network restoration during natural and human-caused disasters as well as increase capacity when needed for planned events.”

Key capabilities of the FirstRunner™:

  • 15-minute setup
  • Supports FirstNet’s Band 14 spectrum
  • High-speed internet for all operating conditions with the ability to get online from anywhere in minutes
  • Auto-deploy high speed Ka-band satellite
  • Commercial LTE band support available
  • Advanced Wi-Fi hotspot and cellular connections
  • Enterprise class gigabit wired networking
  • Primary secure pop-up network
  • Convenience in mobility and versatility of use

General Dynamics will also demonstrate their SHIELD Sensor Backhaul Solutions including a key capability from its JANTEQ product line. The TracPod™ is a tactical, intelligent C Band receive antenna, primarily used for tracking transmissions from aircraft. It can also be used to track other land mobile transmitters from a fixed vantage point. General Dynamics will also showcase their tactical sensor backhaul solutions including Federal Band 4G LTE and Mesh solutions.

Additionally, General Dynamics will feature displays dedicated to its SHIELD Ecosystem™, which provides integrated, mission critical communication systems for city-wide security, border security, critical infrastructure protection, and emergency/disaster recovery.
