General Dynamics has successfully completed phase one of New Mexico's statewide, Fourth-generation (4G) long-term evolution (LTE) public safety network. The broadband LTE network creates the communications backbone for federal, state and public safety professionals to talk to one another, exchange data and collaborate.

Earlier this year, the General Dynamics broadband LTE network was the communications lifeline for law enforcement and other communications professionals during the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail and Beaver Creek, Co. General Dynamics is also part of the team that has successfully implemented a broadband LTE network around Denver International Airport and throughout Adams County, Colorado connecting first responders to dispatchers and vital information databases as they coordinate their response to local events.

General Dynamics Mission Systems expertise in designing and implementing public safety 4G LTE networks includes both ground-based, fixed network infrastructure systems and mobile, rapid deployment 4G LTE broadband communication vehicles. The products and technologies used to build these systems are tested and proven to support the standards around the U.S government's First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet).

State of New Mexico Teams with General Dynamics to
Complete Phase One of Statewide Public Safety Network

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Information Technology (DoIT) announces the completion of the first phase of the state's public safety, fourth generation (4G) long-term evolution (LTE) network in Santa Fe. Working with General Dynamics Mission Systems, the state successfully connected its LTE network, Evolved Packet Core (EPC) with the EPC in Adams county, Colorado. This phase one capability marks the first Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) to successfully demonstrate core-to-core interoperability between states. The state also successfully completed a data call from New Mexico to Adams County over the General Dynamics provided LTE network.

The core-to-core interoperability demonstration is also a significant milestone in establishing New Mexico's implementation of the nationwide, First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet). New Mexico's FirstNet broadband public safety network will be the communications backbone for federal, state and local public safety professionals to talk to one another, exchange data and collaborate using their smartphones and radios.

With the completion of this first phase, the State of New Mexico is on track to ensure our first responders have their communication needs met to best serve the people of our state, said Cabinet Secretary Darryl Ackley.lte

With phase one complete, the state is starting work on the second phase which will deploy a 4G LTE broadband network in the Mexico/New Mexico border region. Working with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, DoIT and General Dynamics will assess the public safety network as it relates to managing public safety operations in close proximity to the international border. The final phase will establish a live 4G LTE broadband public safety network during the 2015 International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in October.

New Mexico is one of seven BTOP grantees to receive funding for the development of a FirstNet public safety network that includes authorization to access the public safety broadband spectrum in the 700 MHz band.

General Dynamics Mission Systems provides the 4G LTE broadband network technologies, products and system integration that is turning on New Mexico's statewide and regionally connected public safety network.

We are excited to be working with the New Mexico Department of Information Technology to implement this life-saving network across the state, said Bill Weiss, vice president and general manager of Ground Systems for General Dynamics Mission Systems. To see the Santa Fe system achieve this operational capability is a significant milestone for New Mexico's public safety and first responder communities.
