On November 12, 2014, General Dynamics C4 Systems Vice President of Supply Chain Scotty Miller hosted the first Small Business Technology Conference in Washington, DC at Nationals Stadium. The purpose of the conference was to educate small businesses on government contracting and specific partnership opportunities with General Dynamics. Over 175 people attended the one-day educational conference held in the Nation's Capital.
The conference opened with a networking lunch followed by Chief Technical Officer of the U.S. Army, Ricardo Pia as the keynote speaker. Officer Pia spoke on the importance of small businesses partnering with government agencies.
Over the course of the day, panels were held with representatives from the U.S Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Homeland Security, Defense Information Systems Agency, National Geospatial-intelligence Agency and Small Business Leadership representatives. Attendees were also given the opportunity to have 1-on-1 meetings with General Dynamics supply chain representatives throughout the day. A reception followed the event with a special appearance from the Vice President of the Washington Nationals and their Mascot, Teddy.
General Dynamics C4 Systems works with hundreds of small businesses across the country. The importance of the work these small businesses perform to both the security of our nation and local economies cannot be overstated. General Dynamics hopes the conference will foster supply chain and business development value through increased relationship building with small businesses.
General Dynamics C4 Systems Washington Operations Supply Chain Director, Andrew Bagni, was very pleased with the outcome of the event. This was our first small business conference we have hosted and it turned out to be a great event. We are excited to host more conferences in the near future.
General Dynamics C4 Systems is planning two other similar conferences in 2015 in held elsewhere in the Nation.
