Carl F. Walser is the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer for General Dynamics Mission Systems. Mr. Walser oversees all aspects of information technology for more than 12,000 employees across more than 75 world-wide business locations, encompassing IT service delivery, data and network cyber security, the development of next-generation IT platforms, and technical talent development. In addition, Mr. Walser’s organization provides IT solutions and services that support the complex and highly classified work of Mission Systems’ engineering organization.
Mr. Walser has more than 40 years of progressive experience, serving in a wide variety of leadership roles to deliver strategic business solutions that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen cyber security. His business leadership enabled the successful integration of three GD Businesses (GD Defense Systems, Advanced Information Systems, and Mission Systems) as well as several business acquisitions, which required harmonizing the IT infrastructure and cyber posture.
Mr. Walser continuously emphasizes improvement efforts within the computing environment to be responsive to the changing business world. As a result, a significant portion of Mission Systems employees were able to immediately transition to a remote work environment following a work-from-home COVID mandate. Within two weeks of the mandate, Missions Systems was able to move to a comprehensive remote business execution model, sustaining business operations.
Mr. Walser is passionate about developing high-performing, highly engaged teams by fostering work environments that embrace diversity, inclusion, employee development and continuous improvement.
Mr. Walser has held positions within General Electric, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin where he developed a diverse business background including positions within manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply chain and information technology organizations which has provided broad experience and the diverse business acumen necessary for delivering systemic, highly productive and cost optimized IT business solutions.
Mr. Walser received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology at Rochester Institute of Technology. He also holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from Union College.
