General Dynamics Mission Systems Krystle Gallo, a Senior Systems Engineer in our Pittsfield, MA office, was recently recognized by Berkshire Community College as a 2016 40 Under Forty Award Recipient. The Berkshires 40 Under Forty Awards comprises outstanding young professionals who are active in the Berkshire County community. Krystle, who supports Navy submarine programs, is an active volunteer for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education activities such as National Engineers Week and local science fairs.

Degrees and Certifications: Purdue University, MS in Mechanical Engineering; Union College, BS in Mechanical Engineering
Career Highlights: I spent my first three years at General Dynamics Mission Systems in the Engineering Leadership Program, which is designed to build future engineering leaders with in-house training, a technical masters degree, and rotations in different business areas. After graduating the program, I became a senior systems engineer supporting Navy submarine programs.
Community Involvement: I have volunteered for the Berkshire United Way for almost three years. As a graduate of the Berkshire Leadership Program Class of 2014, I currently serve on the Steering Committee. I also volunteer for STEM education activities such as National Engineers Week, Flying Cloud Institute and local science fairs.
Ultimate Career Goal: With so many opportunities ahead, its challenging to predict what the ultimate goal will be. For now, my goal is to build my technical knowledge and eventually transition to a leadership position in program management or business development.
Individual You Admire Most: I admire all of the women who have worked hard and paved the way to ensure that future female generations, and young professionals like me, have the opportunity to excel in STEM careers.
Hidden/Unique Talents: I teach a weekly Zumba class at Berkshire Nautilus. I also enjoy baking for my friends birthdays and consider myself a bit of a cupcake decorating connoisseur.
Favorite Berkshire Person/Place/Thing: I absolutely love Berkshire Paint and Sip! After just one painting class, I was addicted!
