TAUNTON, Mass. July 17, 2014 – General Dynamics C4 Systems is a recipient of the 2014 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award for the company's Taunton, Mass., facility. Eligibility for the award requires a minimum of two consecutive superior industrial security review ratings that represent a sustained degree of excellence and innovation in the company's overall security program management, implementation and oversight. The Taunton location was one of 13,000 defense contractors eligible for the award and was one of 40 award recipients. The General Dynamics C4 Systems Scottsdale, Ariz., facility received the Cogswell award in 2011.

The Taunton, Mass. facility is considered a large A facility, a rating assigned by the Defense Security Service, based on the facility's size, scope of work and program complexity. The facility supports multiple Department of Defense customers and programs including the Warfighter Information Network Tactical (WIN-T) for the U.S. Army.

The Cogswell award was established in 1966 and honors the late Air Force Col. James S. Cogswell, the first chief if industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program that emphasizes a strong partnership between industry and government agencies in protecting the nations classified information.
