Partnership between Axsys Technologies and Kylmar delivers comprehensive line of imaging solutions for global customers
London, United Kingdom – Global imaging-solution customers are now able to access the most comprehensive line of imaging offerings from a single source through a new partnership among General Dynamics’ imaging-solutions businesses: Kylmar, a division of General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited, and Axsys Technologies, a division of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. The partnership was announced at DSEi in London today.
General Dynamics is able to meet a broad range of customer requirements through a full suite of high-performance camera systems that leverages Kylmar’s and Axsys Technologies’ complementary expertise in precision optical and motion control subsystems.
“Working in partnership, Kylmar and Axsys Technologies will together be able to offer customers around the world proven imaging solutions on a wider variety of systems and platforms to identify unseen targets at short, medium and long ranges,” said Bob McGill, vice president and general manager of Axsys Technologies. “With service and support centers in Europe, the Far East and the United States, we’ll be close enough to our customers to ensure their equipment remains ready for every mission.”
Peter Kyle-Henney, managing director of Kylmar, added, “As recognized leaders in our field, this partnership will further strengthen the capabilities we are able to bring to the military, homeland security, aerospace and commercial markets.”
Kylmar has been supplying electro-optic equipment and systems to the UK and International markets for 20 years. From its inception, the company has designed and manufactured highly capable electro-optical systems capable of being deployed for long periods of time, often in harsh operating environments, where high reliability is essential to a successful outcome.
Axsys Technologies is a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance electro-optical infrared systems, multi-axis stabilised HD cameras, infrared lenses, optical systems and components and motion control products.
General Dynamics UK is the UK MoD’s leading land systems provider thanks to its force protection solutions that feature Kylmar and Axsys Technologies cameras; its delivery of Bowman, the UK military’s tactical communications infrastructure and the Specialist Vehicle program that will deliver its first prototype vehicle to the British Army in 15 months time.
Kylmar and Axsys Technologies camera system range
EOSS 250TC: The EOSS 250TC multi-sensor system offers narrow-to-wide field-of-view options, enabling missions from wide-area perimeter surveillance to long-range threat identification. The EOSS 250TC is widely deployed throughout the world securing borders, protecting critical infrastructure and defending ground troops in forward operating bases.
ExtremeX: Capable of resolving man-sized targets at over 20km, the ExtremeX infrared camera is ideal for target acquisition in ground-based missions requiring maximum detection distance. The ExtremeX is integrated into every mobile surveillance system across the U.S. southern border.
Cineflex V14 HD: The Cineflex V14 HD airborne camera system delivers true high-definition (HD) imagery with a 5-axis gyro-stabilized gimbal for unparalleled stability. The Cineflex has been used to capture the defining moments of high-profile sporting events, television series and films.
SR-SAS: The Short Range Situational Awareness System (SRSAS) provides situational awareness for force protection and general surveillance. Its colour camera gives optimum identification and recognition during daylight whilst low light monochrome provides the same in dusk conditions and a thermal imager does so in zero-light conditions.
P-SAS: The Portable Situational Awareness System (P-SAS) is designed to provide situational awareness capability out to the typical range of a portable lightweight mortar system. It is intended for use by forces temporarily deployed and provided day and night as well as all weather capability.
CT16000 coastal surveillance system: The CT16000 coastal surveillance system is a rugged coastal target acquisition system that uses thermal imaging, visual optics and a laser range-finder to find and accurately locate ships and vessels from the shoreline.
