The Bluefin SandShark™ is a one-person-portable, low-cost autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) designed to leverage today’s miniaturized sensors and also be the development platform for the next generation. The standard tail section houses all core vehicle systems and connects in seconds to any number of fully customizable and modular wet or dry payload sections. Small enough to be carried in a backpack, the Bluefin SandShark is a low logistics and rapidly deployable solution for virtually any underwater need.

LOW COST OF OWNERSHIP

With the Bluefin SandShark, any component can be changed or replaced, providing extensive design possibilities. Features like modular body components and quick-connect fins for tool-less field replacement make the Bluefin SandShark easily modifiable.

 

GET THE DATA YOU NEED

The majority of the Bluefin SandShark vehicle is payload volume, allowing it to host a wide range of sensors and other components, so you get the data you need. The Bluefin SandShark is the ideal test platform for small, low-power subsea sensors and capabilities.

 

READY OUT OF THE BOX OR BUILD YOUR OWN

Choose a pre-packaged payload like a Side Scan Sonar, or fill an empty wet or dry payload section with the payload of your choice. Support options are available to assist with selection and integration of sensors and payloads, as well as to train personnel to operate and maintain the Bluefin SandShark.

 

MAXIMUM REUSE

Unlike other UUVs of this size currently on the market, the Bluefin SandShark offers easy integration with autonomy suites such as ROS, MOAA, JAUS, MOOS, LCM and more, so you can build on your prior work instead of starting over.

 

MULTIVARIABLE, DISTRIBUTED, SIMULTANEOUS DATA COLLECTION

Numerous Bluefin SandShark vehicles can be deployed simultaneously to support multiple mission areas and applications and to enable swarming behaviors for more efficient detection of targets or performance of surveys. The Bluefin SandShark can also be deployed from larger Bluefin Robotics vehicles, a capability that is particularly cost effective and efficient for those missions that are complex or that require extended endurance and range.
