General Dynamics Recognizes Employees Who Are Making A Difference During National Volunteer Month
April is National Volunteer Month, and General Dynamics Mission Systems is proud to recognize our employees who are improving the communities in which we live and work. Many are making a difference by supporting military and veterans’ charities, and promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) to future generations. At General Dynamics, we believe in promoting a culture that values volunteerism and giving back to our communities.

Inspiring the Next Generation
Our employees are experts in the fields of engineering and technology, and they often focus on sharing their knowledge with students to promote STEAM education. In February, employees across the country went into their communities to support engineering and mathematics programs at local schools. This effort helped educate thousands of young people nationwide on the importance of technology, and challenged them to think critically and solve problems creatively.
Not only do our employees enjoy sharing their knowledge with the next generation of engineers, but these initiatives are also critical to the future success of General Dynamics and our customers. Military, public safety and other personnel rely on our products and technology to complete their missions and come home safely. To continue providing solutions for their mission-critical needs, we’re determined to educate future generations of our workforce, passing on the skills and expertise to get the job done.
Supporting Service Members and Veterans
At a corporate level, General Dynamics provides financial support to a number of non-profit organizations nationwide. These groups generally work toward improving the quality of life for veterans and others through their programs and social contributions.
For example, General Dynamics is a proud Supporter of the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation. Sentinels of Freedom assists severely wounded, post-9/11 veterans in their efforts to be active and self-sufficient members of the community when they return from service. Each year, the program provides transitioning veterans with financial support for housing, mentoring for personal, academic and professional success, and employment networking upon completion of a degree.
In addition to financial support for military and veterans’ charities, many of our employees volunteer for these organizations on their own time.
The President’s Volunteer Award Winners
Our employees give freely of their talents and experience to support community organizations. It’s this tireless dedication to serving needs in the community that we’re so happy to celebrate this month. Earlier this year, General Dynamics Mission Systems President Chris Marzilli recognized 11 employees with the President’s Volunteer Award, honoring their unflagging commitment and dedication to their local communities. Those employees are Daniel Alderman, Max Bennet, Thomas Clark, Lou Coelho, Robert Daugherty, Rueben Fischman, John Gadberry, Frank Laragione, Shannon Martin, Michael Neal and Atoosa Vaziri.
Collectively, these 11 employees logged more than 5,000 hours of volunteer service last year. The programs these employees supported ranged from promoting STEAM education, to supporting our veterans, to organizing back-to-school and holiday donation drives.
At General Dynamics, giving back is a fundamental part of who we are and what we do. Thanks to all of our employees who volunteer their time and expertise – not just during National Volunteer Month, but throughout the year.
