About General Dynamics Fortress LTE

Ideal for small to large specialized private wireless deployments, Fortress LTE delivers an end-to-end solution providing ‘always on’ high speed network access to vital information including voice, video, data, text and chat using any 3GPP compliant LTE enabled device. Fortress LTE solutions are frequency agile, customizable for specific applications and designed for harsh, permanent or temporary deployments where network access may not be available. Features

The Fortress LTE Band 14 Rugged Outdoor Omni- Directional User Equipment (UE) is a 3GPP Category 3 UE, designed specifically for Public Safety Band 14 Frequency Division Duplex LTE (788-798MHz Uplink, 758-768MHz Downlink). The dual-antenna configuration supports receive diversity and downlink Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO) for superior radio performance. The LTE rugged outdoor UE supports 100Base-T Ethernet for connection to a PC or to a compatible residential Wi-Fi router for internet sharing.

  • The LTE rugged outdoor UE is packaged in an IP67 rated water and dust proof metal enclosure. Two external omni-directional antennas are supplied with the UE, providing 360-degree radio coverage without the need for professional antenna alignment. In a typical installation, the UE is placed at an outdoor location for the best radio signal reception. An Ethernet cable carries data between the UE and a host device such as a PC. The same Ethernet cable powers the UE via passive Power over Ethernet (PoE), making installation very simple.
  • User authentication and security is accomplished by standard 3GPP user authentication. A web-based UE management tool provides an easy-to-use interface to configure and monitor the status of the UE. Software upgrades for future LTE releases are done seamlessly over-the-air by network push without any intervention from the subscriber.
  • The LTE rugged outdoor UE includes built-in network functions. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server in the UE automatically assigns an IP address to a host device connected to the UE Ethernet port. The support of Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) allows the UE to form a virtual point-to-point connection with a gateway on the packet data network. This allows private networks to be accessed via the LTE UE without using Network Address Translation.
