Devon Engel serves as the Vice President and General Counsel of General Dynamics Mission Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics. With more than 13,000 employees worldwide, General Dynamics Mission Systems is a leading provider of mission-critical, cyber-secure systems for military and government organizations. The company formed when General Dynamics combined General Dynamics C4 Systems and General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems into a single business entity effective January 1, 2015.
Before moving to Arizona in 1996, Mr. Engel was an associate with Crowell & Moring in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in government contract law. Mr. Engel has been active in the government contract legal community and has published numerous articles and lectured frequently on government contract and other legal topics.
Mr. Engel earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where he graduated with honors and was a member of the Law Review.
Mr. Engel is very active in his community and has been a member of the Board of Directors for DrugFreeAZKids.org since 2004. He has also been a long time supporter of the United Way, the American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and numerous other charitable organizations. While in private practice in DC, Mr. Engel provided pro bono legal services on adoption matters, including the successful opposition of a high profile petition to the Supreme Court. He splits his time between Washington D.C. and Scottsdale, Arizona, where he and his wife Carla have four kids.
