Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Test Lead to support system and software verification efforts for the Undersea Warfare Decision Support System (USW-DSS) program. The Deputy Test Lead will work under the Program Test Lead and be responsible for executing the test strategy, supporting verification across the engineering lifecycle, and helping coordinate test activities. This is a hybrid role that blends hands-on testing, planning support, and operational system understanding.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning test activities and breaking down tasks within the broader test plan
Execute test procedures and approaches based on system and user requirements
Support test activities across functional, performance, and environmental domains
Develop or assist with test documentation including procedures, cases, and reports
Manage test environments, simulators, stimulators, and test data
Perform requirements traceability, mapping, and defect documentation
Identify and isolate defects, support triage, and verify fixes using Jira
Help design cost-effective test methods and troubleshoot system-level issues
Interface with development, integration, and stakeholder teams across the product lifecycle
Assist in continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and standards
Stay current with technology trends and support innovation within the test team
Participate in technical exchanges, provide SME-level insight, and promote cross-team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior U.S. Navy service as a Sonar Technician (STG) or Operations Specialist (OS)
Direct experience with Theater-level USW operations and USWDSS strongly preferred
Familiarity with system testing across software and hardware domains
Experience writing and executing detailed test procedures and diagnostic scripts
Proficiency working in Linux-based environments (e.g., file systems, command line, log review)
Strong technical communication skills—able to clearly document and present findings
Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for defect tracking and documentation
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and collaborative tools
Interest in becoming a subject matter expert (SME) for the system under test
Ability to work independently, follow guidance, and contribute to overall team success
Desirable (but not required):
Exposure to system design or feasibility analysis
Familiarity with object-oriented concepts, scripting languages, or basic coding
Experience in Agile or iterative development environments
Understanding of the full engineering lifecycle from requirements to verification

Target salary range: USD $87,324.00/Yr. - USD $96,875.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
