Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred.

Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

GPS Source, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GDMS, is a world class innovator and manufacturer of high quality, high performance position, navigation and timing (PNT) technologies for demanding defense and commercial markets. Our tight knit product development team needs a Product/Systems Engineering Team Lead, who is an expert in custom embedded systems and PNT technology to help design, deliver and support first-to-market PNT solutions. This position will be located in our Colorado Springs, Colorado location (near I-25 and Circle Drive).

As a Systems Engineering Expert, you’ll lead new PNT product innovations, requirements analysis and management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification and validation), product configuration, fielding, support, and maintenance in mission critical environments. What the team is like:

  • Custom hardware and software PNT products for both military and commercial customers
  • System V&V, data analysis, discrepancy reporting and corrective actions to ensure production readiness
  • Hands-on experience with systems integration and fielding of Army ground vehicle PNT systems
  • Able to identify and resolve technical issues across functional teams
  • Able to meet program timelines, while also ensuring compliance with quality processes
  • Able to quickly synthesize and clearly report relevant information (data and metrics)
  • Continually finding ways to innovate and improve practices

What you bring to the table:

  • Proven experience in all phases of product development, system engineering, V&V, and sustainment
  • Demonstrated definition and tailoring of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and processes
  • Substantial proficiency with requirements management, system modeling, and simulation tools
  • Ability to recognize various architectural patterns, apply them appropriately, understand strengths/weaknesses within those architectures and develop architectural variations as necessary
  • A Master’s Degree in Advanced Systems Engineering is a strong plus
  • Embedded product development, leading a multi-discipline team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Fully understands and guides Configuration Management (CM) and Quality Assurance (QA) of all product and system components
  • Deep-dive analytical and problem solving skills; Daily coaching your team in best practices
