The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) awarded General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems a $4.7 million contract for the first year of a multi-year award for Phase II of the Security Technology Integrated Program (STIP). If all options on this award are exercised, the total contract value will be $13.3 million. The STIP Phase II Development Program will continue the integration of the nation's transportation security equipment and expand the existing STIP system that was developed and deployed in Phase I. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD).

Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide software development, maintenance and integration support to TSA and the manufacturers of transportation security equipment. In addition, General Dynamics will provide overall program management as TSA expands STIP to airports nationwide. The majority of work under this contract will be performed in Fairfax, Va.

"General Dynamics is committed to working with TSA as it achieves STIP's main goals of improving security, resource management and operational effectiveness," said Lou Von Thaer, president, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. "Our standards-based solutions, designed and developed with an open architecture approach, are tailored to meet the unique requirements of the transportation security enterprise."

STIP Phase II will build on the work performed in Phase I by supporting new, innovative approaches that allow the security equipment to exchange information through the integration of the devices into an enterprise system. These enhancements will provide TSA with new tools for security data collection, analysis and dissemination as well as remote maintenance monitoring of transportation security equipment across the aviation security enterprise.
